In the 80s of the XX century Marek Brzeżański participated in one of the first in Poland studies of the internal combustion engine powered by hydrogen, awarded with the Award of the Minister of Higher Education and Technology.

Currently, he is conducting research on hydrogen-powered piston engines, using the system of direct hydrogen injection into the cylinder. As a part of cooperation with Toyota, he took part, among others, in the first in Poland operational tests of a vehicle powered by hydrogen fuel cells. Some of the results were presented in 2019 at the 8th International Conference on Hydrogen Safety (Adelaide - Australia).

In the years 2007 - 2013 Marek Brzeżański was the manager of "Use of waste hydrogen for energy purposes" project which resulted in the start-up of a power plant with a capacity of about 1 MW, operating on waste hydrogen from the chemical industry.
